How do I make a Reservation? Either online through this website shopbeachrentals.com or you can call 1-843-492-7405
 
Is there a reservation deposit required? Yes, to reserve a Condo for your vacation dates, a $250 reservation deposit is due at the time you make your reservation. This is applied toward your rental balance. To reserve a House or Cottage a $500 reservation deposit is required. We accept VISA, MASTERCARD, DISCOVER, PERSONAL CHECKS, BANK CHECKS or MONEY ORDERS as a deposit. If you pay your deposit by check, your check must be received in our office within 7 days of date in which reservation was made or the reservation Will Be Canceled! Upon making a reservation online or by phone you will receive a confirmation by email within an hour. It will itemize the transaction and include your rental agreement. Please read the lease carefully, sign and return it along with a copy of your drivers’ license within 5 days of receipt. Instructions to email or fax back to us are included with the lease agreement. Many of you will vacation with other family members or friends, but only one person signs the lease. The leaseholder is responsible for payment and all of the responsibilities spelled out in the lease. Please make checks payable to Affordable Vacation Rentals and put the reservation number at the bottom of the check. No personal checks can be accepted at check in.

Balance Due: After your initial deposit to reserve your rental the balance is handled as follows;  Any balance due can be broken into 2 payments. The first payment will be ½ of the balance and will be due and payable no later than 60 days prior to your check in date. The second and final payment is due no later than 30 days prior to check in. If you would like to use the same card you used to make the deposit, simply send us a quick e-mail and we will take care of it. If we don’t hear from you, we will assume that you have forgotten and that you authorize us to charge the card that we have on file, on the date due. For reservations made within 30 days of the arrival date, payment must be made in full 10 days prior to arrival date. Please remember to put your reservation number on your check or money order. If any deposit or portion of the deposit is not received by the specified due date, your reservation may be canceled and the property released for rental.
 
Damage Deposit  Damage to a vacation property means additional expense to all concerned. A damage deposit is required on all rentals. $100 for a Condo and $250 for a House or Cottage. Any damage will be deducted from your deposit with all excess amounts being the sole responsibility of the registered guest. Any excess damages will be charged to the Credit card we have on file. It will be up to the renter to reconcile with any member of his or her party that may have actually caused the damage.  Damage deposits will be returned with-in 30 days of departure, assuming there is no damage. Please abide by the few simple rules shown below. 

It's Here! Planning for Your Arrival, What is Provided?
Please note: Each of our properties are individually furnished and equipped by the property owner. They all have Air Conditioning and heat, 2 or 3 TV’s, in most cases porch or deck furniture. Your kitchen is stocked with a stove, microwave, dishwasher (unless noted), refrigerator, pots and pans, dishes and utensils. Each property is stocked with enough basic commodities to get you through a few days but you will need to go to the store eventually.  we provide you with a few rolls of toilet paper, garbage bags, dish and hand soap and shampoo. Most have a washer/dryer in the unit. 
 
Check in is at 3:00 PM or later. In peak season months it may be up to 4 PM or as soon as your rental property has been cleaned. Where are the keys? Most homes now have direct check in, which means you will go directly to the property when it is ready for your arrival.  Once your property has been cleared for occupancy, the arrival code will be activated. The lockbox code will be in your reservation docs. If you are not paid in full or do not have a signed lease agreement on file you will need to see us and an after hour check-in will not be possible. 

What are your office hours? Contact info? From May 15 to September 15, AVR’s office hours are 10:00 am - 6:00 pm daily. We are closed on Sunday. We have an office at 351 Lake Arrowhead Rd in Myrtle Beach. We are in the clubhouse at Arcadian Dunes. Phone 843-492-7405.Assuming that you have paid your balance and returned your signed rental agreement, y
our keys will be in a lock box on the door or railing of your condo. The combination will be emailed to you upon full payment of your charges.
 
Check-in, Upon Arrival Please check your unit thoroughly. Every effort is made to see that your unit is cleaned and undamaged before your arrival. If this is not the case, please report any discrepancies immediately to our office to insure that the problem is resolved and that you will not be held responsible. whether caused by a member of your party or not, you need to let us know. You can call, email or drop by our office so we can document the damage. The most important thing is that we have the opportunity to make repairs as quickly as possible, so as to not hamper your vacation or the next guests vacation.Please Do Not Wait Until You Check Out To Make Us Aware Of Problems, We Can Not Fix It Then.

Linen Service These are individually owned properties. Please arrange for linen service in advance. Due to the number of people not making advanced arrangements for linens we now add linen service to each reservation unless instructed not to. Although bed spreads, blankets, and pillows are provided with each rental, linens service is available at a cost of $59.00 for up to 5 people. $10.00 per person over 5. A linen package includes fitted and flat sheets, pillow cases, bath towels, hand towels,washcloths, bath mats, dish cloths and dish towels. Linens for 6 people weigh about 35 pounds and are very bulky. Linens may NOT be available upon your arrival if you did not order them in advance, depending on time of day. If ordered, the linens will be delivered to your rental unit. Upon departure, leave dirty linens on the beds and housekeeping will deal with them.

Cancelations These are individually owned homes and condos and Upon confirmation the unit is off the market to anyone else. Therefore any cancelation 30 days or more prior to your check-in date limits your liability to 50% of the total cost of the rental. This may result in a refund back to you. Cancelations 29 days or less prior to your check-in date qualifies for a refund of 25% of the total cost of the rental. All reservation cancelations must be in writing, email will suffice.  

Taxes & Fees All Rentals less than 91 days in duration are subject to 11% state & county sales/accommodations tax. A non-refundable processing fee of $59 is applied to all reservations. Departure Maid Service: Departure maid service is required on each reservation in the amount of $79 for a one or two bedroom property, $85-$95 for a three bedroom and $110-120 for 4 bedrooms.

No - Nos and Other Policy's  Due to insurance liabilities and HOA guidelines, we rent to families and responsible adults over 25 only. Please note that the minimum check-in age is 25. No Pets are allowed in any unit. Fireworks and grilling on balconies is illegal within the city limits. Any violations will result in termination of rental agreement and immediate eviction without refund.

What do you mean by maximum occupancy?
Unless otherwise noted in the property description, occupancy should not exceed the bedding accommodations provided with the home. Overcrowding is against Horry County code and is grounds for immediate eviction. Please also note that maximum occupancy limits apply to the home at all times, parties or gatherings are not permitted. Please do not jeopardize your family and friends' vacation by overcrowding. Upon signing your lease agreement, you will be asked to complete an occupancy list. It is the responsibility of the guest to update this if there are changes.

Is there an age limit, or are there any groups not permitted at AVR homes?
All of our vacation homes are privately owned; therefore, occupants are limited to family groups only. NO SORORITIES, FRATERNITIES, WEDDING RECEPTIONS, SPRING BREAK PARTIES, RING DANCE GROUPS or other such group. You must be 25 years of age or older to obtain a rental agreement on a property and anyone under the age of 25 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT. Should a group misrepresent themselves, they will be evicted immediately without a refund.

I am planning to bring my boat, Jet-ski, motorcycle, trailer. Or Golf Cart?
Parking trailers or anything towed can be a real issue. Because of space restrictions here at the beach, most all of the HOA associations prohibit Golf Carts, Boats, motorcycles and anything on a trailer. There simply is no room to park these items. If you are a sports team and need to park a trailer please ask us about making arrangements.

Do all of your properties have WIFI Internet access? Do all of your properties have land lines?
We encourage all of our homeowners to provide WIFI Internet access at our properties. 95% of our properties do have WIFI. Please double check with reservations if there is a question. Due to the proliferation of cell phones, the majority of our properties no longer have land lines. If this is important then please tell the reservationist when setting up your reservation.

I would like to bring my dog, cat or iguana. . .
The vast majority of HOA associations do not allow pets of any kind. Pets in non-pet property is strictly forbidden and will result in eviction. We have pets ourselves and realize that this is an inconvenience. We recommend that you leave your pets at home with a sitter. If you wish to bring them with you there are a couple of kennels locally. Here are a few:

I have allergies?
If someone in the family has allergies it would be important that you speak to a reservationist. We cannot guarantee any home to be allergen free but we recommend properties with wood or laminate floors. 

Baby equipment rental? We regret that due to safety recalls and risk of liability we are unable to rent baby equipment. Please be sure to bring:
High Chairs…. Pack n Plays or Cribs……Crib Sheets…..Baby Gates

Does the property have a grill?
Most all condos have grills in a common area, usually by the pool or playground. Many homes have a grill by themselves. Propane is provided for gas grills, charcoal is the responsibility of the guest. Guests are also responsible for cleaning and removing the remnants from around and on the grill after usage. Grills are not permitted on porches or wooden decks of the house or condo due to the risk of fire. These rules also apply to large propane deep fryers or crab steamers. The heat and grease can cause extensive damage to screens, wood & siding on the home as a result of being placed or left too close and of course also present a fire hazard. Grills and steamers should only be used on concrete surfaces away from the house for safety’s sake. Grills are not to be used on windy days here at the beach, this is a serous fire hazard..

Are there bugs in and around the coastal area?
We live in a sub-tropical climate much like Florida. The gulfstream comes close to shore here. This gives us some fantastic weather, but the bugs like it too. Bugs are a common occurrence in any semi tropical area. Our properties have exterminating contracts and are treated once a month, but the bugs don’t know that and they will still try to come into a property from time to time. Please keep the following in mind: We don’t really have any type of bug that is harmful. Our only real nuisance are palmetto bugs, and they are absolutely harmless.It is not unusual to see bugs in properties in a water-oriented environment.Dead bugs mean that the extermination is working and nothing further can be done. Bugs may take from 1 minute to 12 hours to die after they have entered an exterminated property.In some instances, it can be difficult to completely eradicate the problem. Please call us if you have a problem and we will send an exterminator out as soon as they can get there. Please do not entice ants by leaving food on counters and be sure to wipe countertops after use, also clean up around your grill area after use.
 
Transfers & Refunds In the rare instance that a house or condo cannot be occupied or is sold, Affordable Vacation Rentals reserves the right to transfer reservations to a comparable unit. Tenant shall not be entitled to any refund due to unfavorable weather, maintenance problems, area construction, early departure, or disruption of utility services (including phone and cable), after occupancy. No refunds will be made due to hurricanes unless an evacuation is ordered. The last hurricanes in this area were (Hazel)1954 and (Hugo) in 1990. Two in 60 years.

Maintenance & Repairs During your stay it may be necessary for repairs, exterminating, or other service providers to enter the property. We will attempt to notify you ahead of time. Entry is required for property preservation for you, future tenants, and the owner, and cannot be held off, denied, or rescheduled. We regret any inconveniences this may cause but we promise to keep them to a minimum.
Some rental properties are listed for sale. Please be aware that it may be necessary for agents to arrange showings for qualified buyers during your stay. We appreciate your cooperation.

Important Departure Guidelines:  Guests are responsible for the following:
  • Clean and put away all dishes, glasses, pots and other kitchen utensils.
  • Put trash in plastic bag and take to dumpster or outside trash cans.
  • If linens are rented from Affordable Vacations, please leave on bed.
  • Please leave the property in a secure and orderly fashion, and put both keys back in the lockbox.
Check Out Check out is 10 am on day of departure. Premises must be completely vacated and keys returned to the lock Box by the door, by 10 am. There is a Late Check out fee of $25 per hour. For security reasons and lock change expense, there is a $30.00 charge for each lost or unreturned key.
